Lookin A** N***a – Nicki Minaj: Song of the Day 2/13

Nicki Minaj had the hip-hop community stirring after a few sexy pictures of the superstar were released which were believed to come from a photo shoot. However, those fans quickly learned that the images come from Nicki’s new single, “Lookin A** N***a”.

A track which will appear on both YMCMB’s soon to be released collaboration album Young Money: Rise of an Empire and Nicki’s upcoming solo project The Pink Print, “Lookin A** N***a” is a verbal assault on anyone who Nicki finds fake. This joint continues Nicki’s aggressive lyrical push lately and should have rap-heads happy she is staying away from her pop side.

Twerk It – Busta Rhymes (feat. Nicki Minaj): Song of the Day 7/24

To say that twerking has become a phenomenon would be an understatement. The controversial dance craze has taken over the country has everyone attempting to shake their posterior the best. Busta Rhymes loves what he is seeing and calling out telling everyone to “Twerk It”.

The latest release from Busta’s upcoming album E.L.E. 2, “Twerk It” has the MC letting out his inner Jamaican. It is only fitting that the YMCMB rapper brought in his label mate with the most famous butt in the game, Nicki Minaj, to join him on the track. She also adopts the island voice while preaching the same “Twerk It” sentiments as Busta.

The Motion – Drake (feat. Sampha) : Song of the Day 6/24

Only a few days ago, Musical Breakdown brought you “On My Way”, the first release from Drake in weeks. This seemed to inspire the YMCMB rapper who is preparing to release his third album. On Sunday, Drizzy release four new free tracks for all his fans to enjoy and today’s Song of the Day may just be the standout.

Combining his R&B and rap sides as well as he ever has, Drake lets loose on “The Motion”. Venting about multiple subjects, Drake is joined by Sampha who combined with the production from 40 gives the entire track a very mellow, hazing vibe. This may only be a free track but “The Motion” is going to get things stirring in the Drake universe.

Started From The Bottom – Drake: Song of the Day 2/2

Rumors have been swirling around about Drake‘s new single for weeks now. First it was news on the shooting of the official video, then it was the announcement that the joint was going to be released on Grammy night. Well, as a surprise to the music community, Drake decided to drop “Started From The Bottom” a little early and people are going crazy.

With production from Mike Zombie, Drake sticks to rapping on “Started From The Bottom” and he does it with emphasis and desire. Describing his come up, Drake has come a long way quickly. This YMCMB may have “Started From The Bottom” but Drake is making his case that he is on top with hits like this.

Rich As F**k – Lil Wayne (feat. 2 Chainz): Song of the Day 1/7

Now working on his 10th album, Lil Wayne has been around for awhile now. He has accumulated mass amounts of dough thanks to his record sales, endorsements, and outside business ventures. This is why it is no surprise Weezy and his crew look a little different than the average joe. They look “Rich As F**K”.

Featuring his old pal 2 Chainz, “Rich As F**k” is the aggressive Lil Wayne many have been waiting to hear from again. This is the fourth release heard from I Am Not A Human Being II and is arguably the best. Weezy is not hurting for cash as “Rich As F**k” clearly explains, but this joint will surely add to Wayne’s bankroll.

Good Kush & Alcohol (B*****s Love Me) – Lil Wayne (feat. Future & Drake): Song of the Day 1/3

Admittedly focussed on projects outside of music, it is no surprise Lil Wayne has generated minimal hype for his upcoming album, I Am Not A Human Being II. After limited charting from the first two singles “My Homies Still” and No Worries”, Lil Wayne is back with an all new cut and possibly one to generate some buzz.

Featuring Drake and Future, who share duties on the hook, Lil Wayne admits his life does not need much as long as his “B*****s Love Me”.

Once again full of one-liners focused on sex, drugs, and alcohol, “Good Kush & Alcohol (B*****s Love Me)” is no break from the recent mold for Weezy. Undoubtably catchy partially thanks to the hook, which could have easily been handle by either Drake or Future themselves, this joint has all the workings for a hit single. However, more tracks like this may be to Wayne’s undoing.

I Love Girls – Pleasure P (feat. Tyga): Song of the Day 10/15

From the time he was in the hit group Pretty Ricky through his debut solo project The Introduction of Marcus Cooper, Pleasure P has been infatuated with the ladies. For the first single on his upcoming sophomore project, P decided to throw away the innuendoes and cut down the bush he was beating around and just come right out and say “I Love Girls”.

Pleasure P gives love to every color, shape, and size on “I Love Girls”. Assisted by two verses from fellow lady lover Tyga ties this joint up well but fans may be hoping for a little deeper subject matter to fill out Marcus Cooper better.

The Boys – Nicki Minaj (feat. Cassie): Song of the Day 9/30

Combining two popular genres, pop and rap, successfully has always seemed to be a goal of Nicki Minaj. With hits like “Super Bass” and Starships”, Nicki has made great strides towards her goal. For the first single off the re-release of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded she does it again.

Based off what was supposed to be the second single off Cassie’s second album King of Hearts, Nicki dedicates this joint to “The Boys”. Cassie’s verse and chorus have stayed the same from what she originally recorded as “Money On Love” but Nicki’s verses are all new and ready for her fans to go crazy over.

Where Were You – Drake (feat. Dawn Richard): Song of the Day 9/16

It has been awhile since we have heard any new music from Drake. Although recorded around the time he was working on his first album, Thank Me Later, “Where Were You” was leaked today and is a nice reminder of Drake’s versatility which fans fell in love with.

With the assistance of former Danity Kane and Diddy-Dirty Money member, Dawn Richard and her graceful voice, Drake gets emotional on “Where Were You”. Both singing and rapping, Drake will have fans asking why this joint did not make the cut for Thank Me Later.

Mercy – Lil Wayne (feat. Nicki Minaj): Song of the Day 9/11

Other than “No Worries”, the single Lil Wayne performed at the VMA’s, “Mercy”, the remix of the G.O.O.D. Music hit, may be the most discussed track from Dedication 4.

Even before the tape was released, Nicki Minaj revealed she was going to be featured on the mixtape. Neither her or Lil Wayne revealed which track the two would be on together, but the hype was brewing.

Then when Dedication 4 finally dropped, everyone was talking not about Lil Wayne on “Mercy”, but Nicki’s controversial verse. During her bars, she made a remark about how she was Republican and is planning on voting for Mitt Romney in the upcoming election.

Surprisingly President Obama commented on Nicki’s lyrics. He did so in a very smooth fashion. Then yesterday, Nicki revealed, which many expected, that her verse was completely sarcastic.
