Upper Echelon – Travi$ Scott (feat. T.I. & 2 Chainz): Song of the Day 4/18

Although he had yet to release an official single for G.O.O.D. Music, Travi$ Scott has been slowing making a name for himself being featured on track for some of the hottest artists in the game. Scott was part of Cruel Summer and was featured on Pusha T’s “Blocka”. While this may only be scratching the surface, Scott has already considered himself part of the “Upper Echelon”.

Scott’s first heavily anticipated single, “Upper Echelon” exudes all the feelings of braggadocio. With T.I. and 2 Chainz by his side, Scott provides all the evidence needed to be considered a member of this class of MC. While before he only had features to his credit, “Upper Echelon” is the first big step for Scott in his career.

Numbers On the Board – Pusha T: Song of the Day 4/12

There is something to be said about role players. They may not rack up the big stats and go unseen from time to time, but their contributions are felt by their teammates. Pusha T does not want to be one of those role players. He wants to be the man. He want to be the one shining in the limelight and putting “Numbers On the Board”.

The most recent release from Pusha’s upcoming album My Name Is My Name, “Numbers On the Board” is yet another claim to the throne the G.O.O.D. Music MC. With DJ Don Cannon and Kanye West on the production, “Numbers On the Board” my not be loud, bass-banging, track most would associate with this type of claim but “Numbers On the Board” sure has some bite.

Switch Up – Big Sean (feat. Common): Song of the Day 4/7

In sports, players switch teams. In the workplace, people change companies. In the music industry, artists swap teams. While all of these have become commonplace, there is something special about staying loyal. Big Sean has that sense with G.O.O.D. Music and you best believe that Sean is not about to “Switch Up”.

The second single from his upcoming album Hall of Fame: Memoirs of a Detroit Player, “Switch Up” is all about staying true to those closest to you. With fellow G.O.O.D. Music member, Common, jumping on the beat next to him, Sean flaunts his style and riches on “Switch Up”. But even with all this new found glory, Big Sean has remembered those who have stood by him and proclaims he will never “Switch Up” on his clique.

Favorite Things – CyHi The Prynce: Song of the Day 1/30

Once in a life of struggle on the streets, CyHi The Prynce was far from seeing the the fancy things available in life. Now signed to G.O.O.D. Music and releasing his second consecutive highly anticipated mixtape, Ivy League: Kick Back, CyHi has a long list of his “Favorite Things”.

Sampling the timeless song from The Sound of Music, CyHi lists off “a few of my ‘Favorite Things'”. All of the items on his list seem to glisten in the light. However, by contrasting the production from the verses to the chorus, listeners will be able to understand life for this MC was not always so glamourous.

King Wizard – Kid Cudi: Song of the Day 12/23

Ever since his breakthrough, fans have loved Kid Cudi for his unusual style. There are few who could stay original without conforming to the norm and still be as successful as Cudi. His latest single is just a reminder to everyone of this fact.

The second official single off Indicud, “King Wizard” is the dark, disturbing Kid Cudi which has made him one of the crown jewels of G.O.O.D. Music. By no means will “King Wizard” be a radio hit, but this joint will be on repeat for those Cudi fans who make sure to purchase the entire album.

To The World – Kanye West & R. Kelly: Song of the Day 9/22

Before its release date was finally reached, we had already heard six tracks which were to be featured on Cruel Summer. So to open up the G.O.O.D. Music collaborative album with some new beats, Kanye West decided to against featuring a bunch of his artists. Instead, he brought in R. Kelly for a feature of epic proportions.

“To The World” is a defiant statement. Kanye and Kells have never been ashamed of being boisterous and this joint exemplifies those feelings. Cruel Summer needed to open up with a bang because of all the hype surrounding the project. “To The World” did this and more.

Mercy – Lil Wayne (feat. Nicki Minaj): Song of the Day 9/11

Other than “No Worries”, the single Lil Wayne performed at the VMA’s, “Mercy”, the remix of the G.O.O.D. Music hit, may be the most discussed track from Dedication 4.

Even before the tape was released, Nicki Minaj revealed she was going to be featured on the mixtape. Neither her or Lil Wayne revealed which track the two would be on together, but the hype was brewing.

Then when Dedication 4 finally dropped, everyone was talking not about Lil Wayne on “Mercy”, but Nicki’s controversial verse. During her bars, she made a remark about how she was Republican and is planning on voting for Mitt Romney in the upcoming election.

Surprisingly President Obama commented on Nicki’s lyrics. He did so in a very smooth fashion. Then yesterday, Nicki revealed, which many expected, that her verse was completely sarcastic.
